Simisola Oyewumi is a Cuban trained medical doctor, the Ondo State born entrepreneur is the brain behind La Bella Beauty Couture. She took us on her entrepreneurial journey.
HOL: Can we meet you?
Simisola: My name is Simisola Oyewumi Qualification: MD, Havana, Cuba (equivalent of MBBS) I am from Ondo state and my business name is La Bella Beauty Couture. It's a beauty brand which includes makeup services and training, skincare and hair, all kinds of jewellery.

HOL: How did you start your business and what prompted your interest in this line of business?
Simisola: I started my business after I finished medical school and returned to Nigeria with interest in expanding my scope as to me, medicine alone was boring. I love fashion and beauty and all that concerns women and glam so I decided to take that up. Medical school in the Caribbean is not the regular traditional boring type where you are expected to look a certain way before you are taken serious.
HOL: How did you come about your business name?
Simisola: My second spoken language is Spanish which made it just natural for me to seek a Spanish business name "La Bella" which means "The Beautiful one"

HOL: What challenges do you face in your business and how do you surmount them?
Simisola: Unsteady currency, inflation rate, unstable economy

HOL: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Simisola: In the next 5 years I want to have a full fledged medical spa which will cater to lifestyle needs and not just the medical.

HOL: Advise for upcoming entrepreneur
Simisola: My advice to start-ups, perseverance is key. Keep pushing.
